Nitrous Oxide

Here at Prairie Hawk Dental, we want our patients to be as comfortable as possible when they are undergoing dental procedures. This is why we offernitrous oxide sedation as one of our sedation options.

 

Nitrous oxide, also called laughing gas, is inhaled by the patient when they are sitting in the chair. It helps offer them full body relaxation and takes a lot of the edge off. Whether the patient has severe dental anxiety or is simply getting a lengthy procedure, nitrous oxide sedation can be very useful.

Nitrous oxide sedation is safe for children and adults. In fact, nitrous oxide was originally identified in 1772, and it began being used in dentistry in the mid 1800’s. Many of our younger children and teen patients get it so they aren’t fearful of their dental procedures. Nitrous oxide also wears off quickly, which is a big benefit for all of our patients. After removing the mask, it takes only a few minutes for them to feel back to normal.

Electric Handpieces

Here at Prairie Hawk Dental, we use modern and advanced technology for proper diagnosis and treatment of dental health. This includes our use of electric handpieces.

Now, they are electric and digital, providing better results and higher quality. Rotary Endodontics

Endodontics is a dental specialty that provides root canals in order to remove the infection of the roots and nerves of the tooth. It is typically done to prevent extraction of the tooth. Here at Prairie Hawk Dental at the Meadows, we offer a more advanced version of root canals with rotary endodontics. This allows us to use an electrical handheld tool that gets the procedure done more quickly and effectively, benefiting the patient with a smoother treatment.

Dr. Aaron Goodman performs rotary endodontics with the electronic tool that rotates the endodontic file during a root canal procedure. By having a file that rotates continuously, the nerves and infected tissue deep within the tooth can be cleaned out much more quickly. There are often curved roots in the tooth, so this is a highly effective tool for the root canal procedure. Patients often appreciate being able to get through the root canal in less time by visiting our clinic and taking advantage of rotary endodontics.

Digital X-Ray

When patients visit our Prairie Hawk Dental at the Meadows practice to get a full series of X-rays, we provide them with digital X-rays. They are completed much more quickly and easily than traditional x-rays, and benefit our patients with 80 percent less radiation. Patients appreciate the lack of chemical smell in our office and that the imaging system helps us to provide an instant diagnosis. We are happy to use digital X-rays in order to give our patients the most accurate diagnosis and determine their best treatment plan.

CEREC Crowns

In the past, getting a crown involved multiple appointments, which could be spaced weeks apart. It also involved having a temporary crown while you waited for the permanent crown to be made in an outside lab. At Prairie Hawk Dental at the Meadows, we offer a different and better option to the traditional process.

We are proud to offer our patients the latest technology when it comes to having crowns placed. CEREC is a dental machine, which allows us to create veneers, inlays, onlays and crowns in one visit right in our office.

The CEREC process starts by removing the decay from the tooth and reshaping it. A picture is then taken and appears on the computer screen in 3D. Dr. Goodman can then design the restoration. The nest step involves the CEREC machine milling or carving out the restoration while you are in the office. It eliminates the need for temporary crowns and makes the process more convenient.

Same day crowns using CEREC technology allow you to walk in and walk out the same day with a restoration. The process also eliminates the need for messy impressions.

3D Cone Beam X-Ray Machine Helps in Diagnosis and Implant Placement as Well as Discovering Infections

Here at Prairie Hawk Dental at the Meadows, we use a variety of advanced technology for treatments and procedures, including the awesome 3D cone beam. The 3D cone beam X-ray machine helps in diagnosis and implant placements, as well as discovering infections. It not only benefits our patients, but our dentist, Dr. Aaron Goodman, as well.

The 3D cone beam is a type of imaging machine that uses a cone style of X-rays in order to get the most accurate placement possible for dental implants. It provides us with more accuracy and efficiency than previous 2D X-rays used. With the imaging program, the X-rays we get are converted to 3D, where we can move, enlarge, and enhance them.

The 3D cone beam X-ray machine used in our office provides the following benefits:

Pediatric Dentistry

Developing good dental habits and maintaining a healthy mouth starts early. The America Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends young children visit the dentist for a checkup no later than age one.
